Level 15 to 40

Black Widow is 185 health, 18 bite, speed 19, poison on bite, Venom Bite, and Web Shot, at 450 coins from Housefly. Wolf Spider is 230 health, 20 bite, speed 22, a cheaper sprint, and Hunt, at 1,800 coins and level 28. Locust has base speed 21 plus a +5% move-speed passive and 150 base health; it is not faster than Wolf Spider on the unmodified speed column. I would buy Black Widow first if I came from Housefly, and look at Wolf Spider once 1,800 coins is realistic.

Level 55 and up

• Brood Mother — 560 health, 35 bite, +15% XP, Brood Swarm. 35,000 coins, level 55.
• Giant Huntsman — 570 health, 36 bite, speed 23, Hunt. 75,000 coins, level 80.
• Death's-Head Moth — 640 health, 37 bite, Dazzle, heals 10% of bite damage. Same 75,000-coin gate.
• Giant Hornet — 520 health, 36 bite, Tail Sting. Same gate, less health.

Jaekelopterus, from the prehistoric pack, is 600 health and 38 bite with Claw Sweep. That is a pack insect at 50,000 coins, not a tree step. Arthropleura is 600 health and slower, with Toxic Spray. Emerald Jumper at 49 Robux is the early paid option: 270 health, 23 bite, speed 22. It is the one shop bug I would mention to someone who wants a head start without calling it required.

The tier list letters follow the same stats. This page is only the next purchase. If your goal is safe XP rather than a duel, Housefly’s 8% XP passive still matters after you have “better” health on the table.
