Poison, not a hop

The passive is simple: bites poison bugs. Venom Bite loads the next three bites with poison that ticks for 60% of bite damage each second, for 4 seconds. Cooldown 14. Bite damage itself is 18, so a poisoned target is taking a second stream on top of the hit. I treat that as the reason this spider shows up in the middle of community lists even though 185 health is not a late-game pool. You win by staying in contact, not by out-racing a locust.

Web Shot is the skill: a web that slows the first thing it hits by 55% for 3 seconds. Skills on this game open at level 100, so Web Shot is not a level-15 button. Venom Bite is the ability you have while you are still learning Whispering Woods. Frenzy is not this spider’s listed skill; the web replaces that shared early burst. Stamina is 130, move speed 19, bite speed 1.05. Adult level 28, which lines up with the tier-4 price jump at level 28.

The path, including the task

Parent: Housefly. Not Grasshopper, not the starter. You need the fly first, then another 450 coins at level 15, or 29 Robux. The wiki adds a Tracking task on this spider. Tracking is the UI for following an evolution goal; the wiki does not establish a second mandatory task beyond the catalog level and coin gates.

Whispering Woods opens on a level-15 banner, the same number as this purchase. The Emperor Scorpion also lives there, with 6,000 health in one catalog. Base health differs from the health of a level-15 or level-100 spider, so comparing 185 base health directly with the boss hit is not a survival test. Team play is a sensible option; the sources do not publish a required group size or solo clear time. Bring the spider to the woods for beetles and stag beetles, and read the boss page before you promise yourself the scorpion.

What I would not buy instead, yet

Wolf Spider at level 28 costs 1,800 and has 230 health plus Hunt. It is the stronger mid spider on raw health, and it is thirteen levels and a much larger purse away. Funnel-Web at the same gate trades speed for 300 health and 10% less damage taken. If you already own Black Widow, those are the upgrades to save for, not reasons to skip the 450. Obsidian Widow in the Robux shop copies the poison bite at 69 Robux and adult level 18, with 320 health. That is a paid parallel, one catalog, not a replacement I would call mandatory.

On the tier list I put Black Widow in A: affordable, a real combat passive, and a parent you can reach in the first evolution. S is reserved for the 560-health insects at level 55 and 80. Calling this spider the best in the game would ignore Death's-Head Moth’s 640 health. Calling it a starter would ignore the Housefly you have to buy first.
